We visited Seoul at the end of March 2024, right in the middle of the sakura (cherry blossom) season, which made the city even more magical. Walking around while the delicate pink petals filled the air was truly an unforgettable experience.
One of the most beautiful spots during this season was Seokchon Lake, where cherry blossoms reflected on the calm water, creating a breathtaking view. We also explored the impressive Starfield Library, a modern and stylish booklover’s paradise inside COEX Mall.
For a relaxing escape, we spent time at Yeouido Park, a popular place for cherry blossom viewing. The peaceful atmosphere, combined with the vibrant festival vibe, made it a highlight of our trip. We also visited Bongeunsa Temple, a serene Buddhist site surrounded by the modern skyscrapers of Gangnam—a perfect blend of old and new.
In Myeongdong, we had a unique experience at the Nanta cooking theater, a high-energy nonverbal performance that combined comedy, music, and culinary skills. After the show, we explored the lively Myeongdong Street Food Market, where we tried various Korean street foods—some delicious, some quite different from what we’re used to!
Seoul has a very distinct culture, different from any other place we’ve visited. We stayed in the Gangnam area, one of the city’s trendiest districts, full of energy and style. One evening, we watched the Banpo Bridge Rainbow Fountain, a stunning light and water show over the Han River.
We also visited the famous Netflix-featured “granny”, known for her traditional Korean dishes. However, instead of eating at her restaurant, we tried another local spot nearby. The flavors were quite strong and unique, but they didn’t fully match our taste.
Seoul was a fascinating mix of modern innovation, deep-rooted traditions, and a vibrant food culture. While some experiences were outside our comfort zone, the city’s energy, cherry blossoms, and lively streets made it a truly memorable destination.
