After leaving Gothenburg, Oslo became the next stop. The city, capital of Norway, sits beautifully by the Oslofjord, blending modern architecture with historical landmarks and green spaces. Staying at Guldsmeden Hotels provided a cozy and stylish base, reflecting the Scandinavian emphasis on comfort and design.

Local cuisine was a highlight. At Deilig Sushi, fresh sushi with inventive presentations delighted the palate. Vippa, a vibrant food hall by the waterfront, offered a variety of dishes in a lively setting, while Mathallen Oslo added another gastronomic layer to the journey.

Strolling through Aker Brygge and the surrounding area, including the Klokketårn, revealed Oslo’s charming waterfront life, with shops, cafés, and the energy of locals and tourists mingling. The red benches scattered throughout Vigeland Park added color and vibrancy, complementing the sprawling sculpture installations. The park’s centerpiece, the “Crybaby” or crying child sculpture, evokes the fragility and emotion of human life, capturing both innocence and sorrow in a simple yet poignant design. Around the park, tennis coaches held lessons for children, illustrating the integration of activity and art in public spaces.

Oslo City Hall impressed with its monumental paintings, depicting Norwegian history, culture, and daily life in vivid detail. Each mural tells a story, from seafaring traditions to modern achievements, blending realism with a touch of idealism. The Akershus Fortress provided both a historical perspective and panoramic views of the Oslofjord.

Modern design also shone at the Oslo Opera House, where striking angles and waterfront access create a sense of openness and cultural pride. Walking along its sloped roof offered a unique vantage point over the city. Together, these experiences painted a picture of Oslo as a city where history, art, architecture, and everyday life harmoniously coexist.
