novi sad
After Belgrade, I traveled to Novi Sad, Serbia’s charming riverside city. Arriving at the terminal, I met TheBlueOne, a Chelsea fan, and we shared some travel stories. I quickly realized I liked Novi Sad even more than Belgrade; the city has a relaxed yet lively atmosphere, and the Danube flowing alongside gives it a special charm.
One of my first stops was the Novi Sad Synagogue, a beautifully restored building showcasing stunning architecture and a glimpse into the city’s rich Jewish heritage. I then wandered through Danube Park, where a famous statue of Jovan Jovanović Zmaj, the beloved Serbian poet, stands—his image seems to appear all around the city, celebrating his cultural legacy.
In the city center, I photographed the Cathedral of St. Mary, a striking landmark with impressive towers and intricate details. Lunch was at Astal Restaurant, where I enjoyed traditional Serbian ćevapi—delicious meat grilled to perfection.
Finally, I made my way up to the Petrovaradin Fortress, overlooking the Danube. Its massive walls, historic tunnels, and panoramic views of the city and river below made it an unforgettable experience, a perfect ending to my time in Novi Sad.
