edinburgh
After leaving Manchester, I traveled to Edinburgh, one of my favorite cities. The city has such a unique charm with its medieval Old Town, elegant Georgian New Town, and the ever-present silhouette of Edinburgh Castle standing proudly on Castle Rock.
While here, I tried haggis, Scotland’s traditional dish, and also hiked up Arthur’s Seat, an ancient volcano that offers stunning views over the city. I visited the National Museum of Scotland, which is filled with fascinating exhibitions on history, culture, and technology.
With a friend from Australia who had rented a car, I also explored the surrounding areas. We went to see the mysterious standing stones at Callanish (on the Isle of Lewis), and I climbed up Calton Hill, famous for its classical-style monuments and incredible panoramas.
One of the highlights was walking up to Edinburgh Castle, where I captured a beautiful photo of the city below. Edinburgh truly blends history, culture, and natural beauty in a way that very few places in the world can match.
