Flying in from Glasgow, I landed in Dublin and started on O’Connell Street with the city’s long, needle-like monument—the Spire of Dublin (often called the Monument of Light).
I took a day tour to the Cliffs of Moher—towering sea cliffs where part of the cave sequence in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince used real footage of the cliffs (the cave itself was completed with other locations and studio work). Wild Atlantic views, wind in my face—unforgettable.
Back in the city, I visited Trinity College, Ireland’s oldest university (founded 1592), and then wandered through Phoenix Park, where herds of fallow deer roam freely across the vast green.
One of my most striking photos was of “Homeless Jesus”—the bronze figure lying on a bench—outside Christ Church Cathedral. The face is hidden by the cloak, and the identity is revealed only by the nail marks on the feet. In my shot, you can see the cathedral rising in the background, which makes the scene even more powerful.
Dublin blends literature, history, and everyday warmth—grand monuments, wild coastline, and quiet moments that stay with you.
