Cusco, nestled in the Peruvian Andes, is a region rich in history and breathtaking landscapes. Visiting Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The ancient Incan city’s mystical beauty and impressive architecture left me in awe. I stayed in Aguas Calientes, a charming village at the base of the mountains, which made exploring this iconic site even more special.
In Cusco’s city center, I marveled at its historic landmarks, blending Incan and colonial influences. Arriving directly from Lima by plane, I experienced altitude sickness due to the city’s high elevation, but that didn’t stop me. The very next morning, before dawn, I embarked on a trek to the stunning Rainbow Mountain, where the vibrant colors of the peaks were well worth the effort.
Another highlight of my journey was visiting Humantay Lake, a glacial gem surrounded by towering peaks. Its vivid turquoise waters and serene setting were absolutely mesmerizing. Cusco’s unique combination of natural wonders and rich cultural heritage left me with unforgettable memories.
