I traveled to Belgrade, the dynamic capital of Serbia, known for its mix of history, culture, and lively urban energy.

One of the first highlights was the Belgrade Fortress, standing proudly at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. The fortress dates back to Roman times, with layers added over centuries by Byzantines, Ottomans, and Austrians. Walking along its walls, I was treated to sweeping views of the rivers and the city skyline, feeling the weight of centuries of history.

From there, I wandered through Kalemegdan Park, which surrounds the fortress, with its quiet paths, monuments, and lush greenery offering a peaceful contrast to the city below.

I also explored the Republic Square, the heart of Belgrade, and the nearby Skadarlija street, the bohemian quarter full of cobblestones, lively cafes, and traditional Serbian restaurants. The Stone Square (Kamenita Pijaca) was another charming stop, with its historic vibe and local energy—it felt like stepping back into Belgrade’s past while still being part of the modern city.
